Brittany Mason – The Activist and Model is Still Full of Surprises
Brittany Mason is an actress and model that was recently on the Oxygen Network’s “The Face”, with a supermodel cast that included Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, and Coco Rocha. She’s also appeared on the 200th episode of “Two and a Half Men”, “Project Runway: All Stars 2″, and “The American Country Music Awards” in 2010 & 2011.
She recently was kind enough to sit down and answer a few questions from Muze.
Brittany, your career has certainly been taking off the last couple years especially with an appearance on “Two and a Half Men,” modeling on “Project Runway All Stars,” and your being cast as one of the models on Oxygen’s “The Face.” How’s the transition gone from modeling for the big brands to TV gone? Is more TV work in your future?
There is absolutely more TV work in the future! I have relocated to LA in pursuit of that. The transition from modeling to acting is going great, and the two sort of go together. Acting has made me a better model, because modeling you have to take on different characters to really sell a brand. I love acting and playing a role, you will certainly see more of me in the future.
OK we have to ask, what was it like working with Naomi Campbell, Karolina Kurkova, and Coco Rocha on “The Face?” It seems like quite a mix of strong personalities and very accomplished women.
They are all very strong women, it could be stressful at times but at the end of the day I have always admired all three of their careers and it was an honor to work with them.
You are proud to call yourself an activist and have been deeply involved in things like organizing an anti-bullying campaign and relief for Haiti. Has that activist streak in you always been there? What motivates you to work on these projects and to stay socially conscious?
The activist in me has always been there. I feel it is my purpose in life to help others, that is what mainly motivates me. There are many charities I work with but anti-bullying, Haiti, and the Model Alliance are the ones that are closest to me. We will all one day be remembered for something. I want my memory to be a positive legacy. I believe we are all here for a reason and we each have special talents that we can offer to serve others. I am a huge supporter for volunteerism. Not only does it make a difference in the lives of others, but also in your own.
We hear you are studying acting. Is that something you’d like to pursue in a major way down the line? Any projects coming up that you can tell us about?
I have been studying at Strasberg in New York, I have also taken classes at Larry Moss among a few other schools. I recently played a waitress in an upcoming Episode of Dexter and I am filming a pilot for A&E this week in NYC. There are things in the works and more to come so keep an I out!
We like to ask many of our Muze features where they see themselves in five years. So, where do you see yourself in just a few years — the model Brittany, the activist Brittany and the actress Brittany?
In 5 years I see my career continuing to grow, there are a lot of things I see and have planned. I am literally doing everything I have ever wanted to in my life right now, I just want it all to grow on an even larger level. So stay tuned! Life is fully of surprises!
