The Rolling Stones have gotten back together and recorded some new music for the first time since 2005’s “A Bigger Bang” album.
Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Charlie Watts and Ronnie Wood met up in a studio in Paris last month to record two new songs, “Gloom and Doom” and “One Last Shot”, to be included in a new greatest hits collection to be released this fall to celebrate the band’s 50th Anniversary.
How could two new songs be considered ‘greatest hits’ when no one has heard them, you might ask (especially when you consider The Stone’s haven’t been able to get a song in to the US Top Ten since 1987’s ‘Mixed Emotions’)? Bands do it all the time. If you add a couple of new track to a greatest hits package a smart lawyer with good teeth can make it count against the number of albums you owe a record company on your contract.
The Stone’s latest greatest hits package, called “GRRR!”, comes out on Nov. 12 worldwide (Nov. 13 in North America because record store like to open new boxes on Tuesdays). It will be available in a three-CD 50-track version and a ‘super-deluxe’ four-CD version with 80 songs.
