Recently Chicago photographer Seth Kane and model Sheridan Rhode collaborated on what turned out to be a gorgeous editorial which we were so psyched to share with Muze readers. An exploration of beauty and the mind of a model in another “At Her Place” feature for Muze Magazine.
We wanted to hear a bit from Sheridan about the shoot and where she might be off to next in her modeling career. We would hope to see Sheridan in Muze again soon, so if you are a fan check back and also sign up as a member and get updates on new features and other great stuff when it’s unveiled.
Here’s Sheridan’s short but sweet interview:
Sheridan, what’s been your experience with modeling so far, and how long have you wanted to give modeling a shot?
My sister got me into doing a couple charity fashion shows and that’s when I realized my love for being in front of a camera, so when Seth asked to do a photo shoot I said yes. This is all very new to me and kind of happened over night you could say.
What’s your 9 to 5 life like? Anything that would have prepared you for a modeling gig?
I work as a receptionist, and my free time consists of working on my piece of shit car. The one way I prepared myself is just by being confident 100% because if it’s one thing the camera shows its fear. Oh yes and a little Mariah Carey to set the mood during shooting.
For a newbie your shoot here with photographer Seth Kane is incredibly relaxed and natural. Was this a shoot concept and location you were able to identify with? Did you feel kind of like an actress in a role?
I’ve always been intrigued by dark and dirty run down places and I’ve found myself spending a lot of time driving in circles trying to find places like that, so when I found out about the milshire I was as excited as a 6 year old going to Disney land. As far as feeling like an actress I felt more like someone was recording my life. What is this girl doing here and how did she end up here?
Wondering if you have the modeling bug now and feel like you’d like do create more artful work.
I appreciate all type of art and since I can’t draw, paint, play instruments, sing, or work a camera this is how I can express myself. Being able to take my own ideas and add to the shoot is more than I could ask for.
Where now for Sheridan as far as modeling goes?
Well I guess the best way to put it is this…. The road is dark, lovely and deep and I have miles to go before I sleep. I don’t expect everyone to give good feedback therefore I have prepared myself for any criticism that comes my way. I don’t know where tomorrow will take me I guess I’ll have to just wait and see, but there is no chance I’m turning around at any point.
