Our Top 10 Most Entertaining Women of Primetime Television

By Amelia Wedemeyer – Muze Staff Writer

As much as it pains us that summer is almost over, we do have a few things we’re looking forward to this fall. Brisk autumn days, the return of Monday Night Football and the start of a new primetime television season. Who doesn’t enjoy plopping down on the couch, cracking open a beer and devoting themselves to an hour or so of (mindless) entertainment, especially with great returning and up-and-coming talent?

We’re rounded up a list of the top amazing women of primetime so you’ll know exactly who to watch this fall.

Sofia Vergara

Sofia Vergara

Even though the lost in translation jokes are starting to get a little repetitive, we can’t deny our love for Sofia Vergara as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett on ABC’s Modern Family.

Mindy Kaling

Mindy Kaling

The Office‘s Mindy Kaling, a.k.a. Kelly Kapoor, is packing up and moving on to bigger and better things, that being her new Fox sitcom, The Mindy Project, which she will star in, write for and co-produce.

Connie Britton

Connie Britton

Connie Britton has a knack for starring in critically-acclaimed television series as the resident MILF, case in point American Horror StoryFriday Night Lights and ABC’s new musical drama Nashville, where she will play washed-up country music singer Rayna James.

Cobie Smulders

Cobie Smulders

Even though it’s about to be season 8 and we still don’t know who the mother is on CBS’ How I Met Your Mother, we still enjoy watching it -thanks in part to the hockey-playing, Canada-loving Robin Scherbatsky.

Erin Andrews

Erin Andrews

Ah yes, Erin Andrews of ESPN sideline reporting and peephole fame will host a primetime college football show on Fox Sports along with covering NFL and MLB games.

Emily VanCamp

Emily VanCamp

ABC’s Revenge is on for a second season, which means Emily VanCamp, who stars as main character Emily Thorne, will be back on our TVs and kicking ass in no time.

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler

Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope on NBC’s Parks and Recreation is one of the reasons why we disagree with the notion that women can’t be funny.

Lucy Liu

Lucy Liu

Lucy Liu will star in CBS’ Elementary as Dr. Joan Watson, which, as you can guess, is a modernized version of Sherlock Holmes.

Zooey Deschanel

Zooey Deschanel

Everyone’s favorite Manic Pixie Dream Girl, Deschanel uses her charm and quirk for the good of us all as Jess Day on Fox’s New Girl, which is back for a highly-anticipated second season.

Jamie-Lynn Sigler

Jamie-Lynn Sigler

Jamie-Lynn Sigler is no stranger to TV -she was a series regular on The Sopranos, starred as the title character in the forgettable made-for-TV movie Call Me: The Rise and Fall of Heidi Fleiss and had a recurring guest role on Entourage. Now Sigler will take on the role of a married mother in NBC’s bro-comedy, Guys With Kids.

Bonus: Michelle Obama and Ann Romney

Bonus: Michelle Obama and Ann Romney

Don’t forget to watch as First Lady Michelle Obama and Dressage-loving Ann Romney sit front row as their husbands go head-to-head in the Presidential Debates.
