Amanda Beard has led an interesting life. She first rose to fame in 1996 when she won a gold medal at the Olympic Games in Atlanta. She then appeared in Playboy, Maxim, and various other sexy photo shoots. She won another gold medal in 2004, and worked hard to make it to London in 2012 but finished 5th in her qualifying race. In between her dazzling performances in the pool and her eye popping spreads in magazines, Amanda Beard has battled drug addiction and eating disorders. Now she’s going to tell everyone about it.

“In the Water They Can’t See You Cry” is Amanda Beard’s tell-all memoir. The book is scheduled to be released in April of 2012, to coincide with Beard preparing for the London Olympic Games.

Beard said that she hopes her memoir ”will help others, especially high school and college-aged women, who may be dealing with some of the same issues.”
